At around noon yesterday an anonymous caller reported to the Mexican national emergency number (066) about armed hitmen circulating in various automobiles in downtown Acapulco, Guerrero. Federal Policemen immediately attended the call and arrived quickly at downtown Acapulco. After their arrival, there was an intense confrontation between the cartel hitmen and the police, which then turned into a high-speed pursuit. The fleeing gunmen reached the house where they were staying and hid there for approximately one hour as the shootout continued.
After the confrontation, the policemen had killed 3 gunmen and seized 1 gray SUV vehicle, 1 AK-47 assault rifle, 1 .233 caliber Pietro Berreta handgun, and 1 R-15 assault rifle, along with ammunition for all the weapons. The were no government casualties, only material damage to the police trucks from the AK-47 rifles used by the gunmen.
